nice vid-yeah i agree this one can be played more percussively than Navarro did it on the recording-more funk, less rock-any chance you’ve got that nasty riff towards the end, i’m trying to ear that one out

  2. tonebenderx Says:

Great lesson. Thanks for breaking down this awesome riff.

  3. demandvictorycom Says:

  9. machinsky108 Says:

hey man this is really cool- as the guy earlier said, you show the real deal. please keep posting funk videos! by the way, for the major chords/9th in this song, ive heard by some people that you should wrap your thumb around, as opposed to playing it like a barre? im not sure, by what is your input? thanks!

  10. ycuy Says:

    Thanks, Great Lesson

  11. Ednerd Says:

finally, someone who does it right! the best part of the song is how he mixes up the guitar riff intro. most people play just the major chords and it drives me crazy. well done

  15. ToxicBarracuda Says:

It’s an F-shape chord. The 9th is added with your pinky.

  18. Ajak28Hype Says:

how are you forming those chords, cuz my way is different and i cant put my pinky on the parts with the changes…could you tell me what fingers you have on what strings and frets on the cmajor chord?

    Pt. 2
Yeah we need to keep funk alive(for lack of a better saying). Now all the kids are tech savvy, and realized they don’t have to know anything about music,to make music…and I can hear that. I also hear when someone plays funk, but doesn’t feel it. Bootsy always said don’t fake the funk-but there is a lot of that goin’ on. it’s cool that you got to pioneer a lot of this stuff-pass it on to these young guys man a lot of them need it.
    Thanks for watching.

  25. melbookermusic Says:

Yeah man. When people talk about funk guitar.Roger Troutman doesn’t usually come up. I “WILL” change that. As a kid I spent a lot of time on that stuff. To this day I listen to him-a lot. I wish he was still around.
