This is great lick because you only have to learn Two Chord Forms – and you can extend it out over 12 – 24 bars! Big rewards for just a little work! In the Key of C, and the forms can be used over C, F, G, even D for instant solo work. Got the first part from an Albert Lee instructional set. Played on a B-Bender Telecaster through a Dr. Z Amp.

www.creativeguitarstudio.com Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio presents a guitar lesson in Fingerstyle Guitar… NOTE: Sorry for the errors during the video with all of the references to, “Drop D.” The topic in the video is indeed supposed to be on/about the, “Open D Tuning.” Q: I tried experimenting with Open D Tuning but had no real luck with it. I was lost on how to play the shapes of scales and I didn’t have much success with making any chord shapes either. Can you do a video discussing an easy to use concept to help players get used to new tunings? I really enjoyed your recent video lessons on Working with New Scales — is there a similar process you could discuss that relates to the Open D Tuning, or any tuning for that matter? Really love your YouTube channel and weekly Blog. Thanks, from Kim — Winchester, Virginia A: Simplify new tunings by fully understanding the new neck layout. Begin by creating a Fingerboard Worksheet for yourself. Once the note layout is complete on a sheet of Guitar Fingerboard Worksheet Paper — organize the pattern layouts of a couple of scales, as well as, create a few chord shapes of common chords like; Major’s, Minor’s or Dominant 7th’s. This will help lead you to begin mapping out a progression in a particular key center. The complete lesson article for this video will be available on the Creative Guitar Studio website shortly. The guitar lessons are back, with a great approach to the study of Pentatonic Scales! From my experience, this is an area that a lot of guitar players without private instruction struggle with. Some people excel at this naturally. Others, like myself, needed to work on it a bit. So this is my technique and regiment that I came up with for practicing pentatonics until I could get them DOWN! Part 1 of this video series details Major and Minor Pentatonics: -What are they? -How YOU can use them to improve your playing -What are the 5 main patterns, or boxes -Some other ways of looking at pentatonic scales to move between boxes Be sure to check out Part 2 of this video for the complete lesson. A lot of these ideas are based off of the CAGED system of scale patterns, so if you don’t know what that is, please check out my other video lesson on the CAGED System for the full details. You can find it in my videos, or in my Guitar Lessons playlist. There is a powertab file lesson available for this, and all my other lessons. If you would like it, just send me a message with your email, and I’ll get it sent out ASAP.
