Mrs. Robinson was originally written for the movie ‘The Graduate’, starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. Paul Simon later wrote more lyrics and polished the few that he had before they included it on their 4th album, Bookends. This lesson starts with a Campfire Version, then adds the main riff ,a fill and some passing bass notes, before finishing up with a flashy instrumental flatpicking arrangement of the intro. The Canon In D by Johann Pachelbel is one of the most popular and widely recognized compositions from the last 500 years. Pachelbel was a German musician who predated JS Bach by a generation in the mid-late Baroque period. A canon is one of the most strict and complex forms of composition that exists, requiring the composer to construct a melody that can be played in multiple voices and blend with each other where each voice is following each other, playing the exact same melody. Fields Of Gold was written by Sting and first appeared on his solo album Ten Summoner’s Tales in 1993. This lesson looks at how Eva Cassidy arranged it for guitar to accompany herself singing. It is done with a capo at the 7th fret using an arpeggio fingerpicking style in the key of D, starting on a Bm chord. Eva managed to make a few recordings before she tragically passed away at the age of 33, a few years before receiving any major recognition for her talents and incredibly beautiful voice.
